Margaret Shaia serves as CEO, Board member and shareholder of Acoustical Sheetmetal Inc. (ASI) effective February 1 2019. Prior to teaming with RTK Family Capital and Young Capital Partners to acquire ASI, Margaret spent most of her career managing and improving manufacturing operations. As General Manager of Flexicell, Inc. from 2015 to 2018, she worked closely with the senior leadership team to revive business strategy, recruit additional engineering and manufacturing talent, develop and implement processes to insure high quality, all which led to significant growth in revenue and profitability. This followed a one-year stint with Fahrenheit Finance Group where as Interim CFO, she guided a troubled manufacturing business through a debt restructure.
Much of Margaret’s career (1998 to 2014) was at AMF Bakery Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Markel Ventures/Markel Corporation. Margaret served as Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer and board Member where she co-managed the transformation of AMF from a declining unit equipment business to a global market leader of industrial baking equipment through a combination of strategic acquisitions, focused product development and aftermarket sales. She had financial responsibility and oversight for 10 reporting locations throughout the world with revenue rising nearly ten times during her career, doubling in the last three years. Margaret led operational and financial due diligence for eight major acquisitions and two divestitures. She organized and executed plant consolidations, personnel re-deployment and developed process improvements that drove significant profitability and cash flow increases.
Prior to AMF, Margaret served as Director and Assistant Controller at Owens and Minor, a Fortune 500 medical products distributor, and as Controller for AMF Bowling after beginning her career at PriceWaterhouse in 1985 where she served in the roles of Tax Manager, Audit Senior and Staff Accountant until 1992.
Margaret has a B.S. from Rider University with a Major in Accounting.
Her outside activities have included board and volunteer positions with FeedMore, Virginia Manufacturers Association, Partnership for the Future, Susan G. Race for the Cure, Special Olympics and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She is currently an Executive Committee Member and Treasurer for The Read Center.
